A 21-year-old man was sprayed in the eyes with an unknown substance by an attacker who also threatened to stab him.

The man was walking in the alleyway from Cinnaminta Road to Leiden Road in Wood Farm, Oxford between about 3pm and 3.15pm on Monday.

The attacker demanded the victim's jacket, before taking an item from his hooded top and spraying a substance into the man's eyes.

He then threatened to stab the victim.

The man handed over his jacket, which contained £3,500 that he was taking to the bank for his employers.

The victim sustained injuries to his eyes and was treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington but was later discharged.

His attacker is described as white, of medium build and about 5ft 9in.

He was wearing a black hooded top with a full length zip and the hood up, a dark blue scarf around his face, blue jeans and black trainers.

Investigating officer, DC Steve Bates said: “This was an extremely nasty attack during which the victim was injured and there were further threats of violence."
