Saturday
1. The Banbury Town Mayor’s Celebration of Christmas concert takes place at the Town Hall.
Mulled wine and mince pies will be served and doors open on the night at 6pm for a 6.30pm start, and the concert will last for around an hour.
2. Lord Mayor Mohammed Abbasi will be switching on the Christmas lights at the St John’s residential care home in Oxford.
The home’s Christmas Bazaar will include a fete, mince pies and a carols sung by a choir.
The festivities get underway at midday and last until 4pm.
3. An art exhibition opens at Modern Art Oxford to display a representation of the work of William Morris and Andy Warhol.
Turner prize-winning author Jeremy Deller has curated the exhibition with draws connection between the unconventional combination.
It runs until March next year.

Sunday
4. Wallingford’s Christmas festival takes place throughout the day.
The events, under the town hall in Market Place begin at midday with the arrival of Santa Claus.
There is live music from choirs and bands and the tree lights will be switched on at 5pm shortly followed by fireworks.
5. The Santa Fun Run for Katherine House Hospice will be held in Banbury.
Participants get a free Santa outfit for the run in Spiceball Park which begins at 11am.

Monday

A judicial review over whether Oxford Stadium should be called a ‘conservation area’ takes place at the Royal Court of Justice in London.
The stadium owners are challenging the decision by Oxford City Council which means it can’t be knocked down.

Jonny Rotten will be appearing at the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford to promote his new book.
The former Sex Pistols front man will be giving a talk at the theatre from 7pm.

Thursday

The Varsity Rugby match takes places at Twickenham.
Oxford University take on Cambridge in the 133rd edition of the famous old rivalry.
