CHERWELL District Council bosses have vowed to host more events during school half terms following the popularity of sessions last week.

October half term hubs organised by the council received 201 bookings at their two sites in Banbury and Bicester from October 27 to 31.

It was the first time the hubs, which give children between five and 15 the chance to take part in arts and crafts, sports and dance, had been held during school half term.

District council lead member for performance and communications Kieron Mallon said: “This year we have seen a huge demand for our activity hubs with both the Summer and Easter hubs receiving record-breaking sign up numbers.

“As a result of the interest and popularity we decided to trial half term hubs in Banbury and Bicester during the May and October half term breaks and both received high turnout levels.

“These numbers clearly reflect a need and desire for these activities and based upon this we will be continuing the half term hubs alongside the Summer and Easter hubs in 2015.”
