A NEW weekend and bank holiday bus service is to be launched between West Oxfordshire and London on Saturday.

The Stagecoach Gold SW1 service will run between Carterton, Witney, Eynsham, Thornhill Park-and-Ride in Oxford, and seven major tourist destinations in London. These will include Marble Arch, Westminster and the Tower of London.

There will be two services leaving Stanmore Crescent in Carterton at 7.55am and 8.55am, lasting two hours and 55 minutes.

Two return services will leave the Tower of London at 5.10pm and 6.10pm and take two hours and 47 minutes.

It will run each Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday, apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Stagecoach said the service is aimed at day trippers, theatre-goers and shoppers and anyone who wants to return later can use the Oxford Tube between the capital and Oxford at no extra cost.

Passengers can also use their bus ticket for two-for-one offers on some London attractions and shows.

Stagecoach’s managing director for Oxfordshire Martin Sutton said: “This new service offers our customers an affordable and sustainable method of getting to the capital for a day out.

“With direct links offering a door-to-door service between West Oxfordshire and central London, the SW1 is the ideal choice for people wanting to make that weekend trip to London.”

Tickets are available from the driver and a day return costs £18 for adults, £13 for concessions and £9 for children.

Under-15s go free with adults.
