A PUBLIC inquiry started yesterday into a decision to refuse the building of 127 homes in Bampton.

An independent planning inspector will hear evidence from West Oxfordshire District Council, the Society for the Protection of Bampton residents’ group and developer Gladman Homes.

It follows the council’s decision to reject a planning application by Gladman to develop land in Aston Road in January.

The developer will argue that the council has not adequately calculated its five-year land supply, while planners and residents believe new homes would create a flood risk and harm the conservation area.
