Designs for the redevelopment of Frideswide Square in Oxford were approved yesterday.

Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet approved the designs which set out what the square will look like once the £5.5m redevelopment is complete in December 2015.

This includes elements like the type of paving stone used as well as a controversial shared space scheme to allow cyclists and pedestrians to use the pavements, which raised fears of collisions.

The redesign will replace traffic lights with roundabouts in a bid to improve traffic flow.
