Lovelorn Mark Broughton, who offered his hand in marriage in an eBay auction, is still confident of finding a bride online, despite one withdrawn offer.

Mr Broughton, 37, of Corn Bar, Witney, was so keen to find a partner that he auctioned his future for a penny on the Internet auction site.

The 10-day auction began on Thursday, and so far has attracted one bid of £700 from a potential suitor - but shortly afterwards the offer was withdrawn.

The former parking attendant said he was not disheartened and had also received emails from two women asking him to send them his photograph.

Mr Broughton said: "There is a week to go and anything could happen in that time."

Mr Broughton has suggested that the winning bidder should live in his flat for a week and if they still want to marry him at the end of it then he is prepared to walk down the aisle.

He added: "I hope something good will come out of this."
