HOSPITAL staff could visit patients instead of moving people between wards following concerns from a road accident victim. A man in his 30s, who has not been named, praised care at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital which helped save his left leg from amputation.
But he raised concerns about the impact of moving him from the intensive care unit, trauma unit and specialist surgery inpatients’ ward.
He told managers that although a dedicated trauma nurse consultant saw him regularly, “the constant changes and moves did make it difficult for me to feel grounded and safe.”

A report to the board of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, which manages the hospital, said it had prompted them to review patient transfers.
It said: “In some cases it may be more beneficial for the patient to remain in an appropriate ward with specialist medical personnel visiting.”
