WE are so lucky to have doctors at the very forefront of their fields in Oxford. No one knows that more than Ollie Kirk, who last year became one of the first children in the UK to have a ceramic “skull” inserted into his head.
The brave lad had to spend three days in an induced coma as his body recovered from the gruelling op, so no wonder his mum Liz is so delighted to see him kicking his beloved football about again.
She is one of a team of 25 who abseiled down the John Radcliffe to raise cash for the medical experts that helped her boy.
It is great to see how the support of his doctors has not been forgotten a year on. Maybe we should bear in mind just how much our doctors and nurses do for us next time we’re sitting in a GP’s queue.
