THE food was as hot as the weather at Oxford’s Thai Food and Culture Festival.

Yesterday hundreds of people flocked to Botley Park in West Oxford for the annual event during which Thai restaurants from the city, Abingdon and Wallingford, served oriental delicacies and visitors tried Thai massages or learned about Buddhism.

Chris Woolhouse, 45, who took his four-year-old daughter Sasha, and has been to Thailand, said the experience was “pretty authentic”.

Mr Woolhouse, a lawyer from Grandpont, South Oxford, said: “Sasha thought the chicken massaman was tasty, but mostly she was interested in the bouncy castle.”

Bangkok House restaurant in Hythe Bridge Street, Abingdon’s Chaba Thai and Cowley’s Muay Thai Boxing Academy and |Oxford Thai Reflexology were among the demonstrators. Money from this year’s event will go to The Oxford Buddha Vihara temple, one of only 15 Thai temples in the UK.
