We do not have any traffic calming measures

I AM writing concerning your story about traffic speed in Kennington (September 2).

Could I point out that there is a 30mph limit in all of Kennington. What we do not have in Upper Road is any traffic calming measures, i.e. road humps or speed cushions.

Perhaps the inconsiderate motorists who speed in built-up areas would feel differently had they caused or been involved in an accident that caused injury or worse.

Chairman

Kennington Parish Council

It’s a bit of a giveaway the word towpath and is derived from its use which was actually for a horse which towed narrow boats on our canals up until mechanisation took over.

To the writer. Speak with your local police contact in Kennington and organise a local meeting of residents. You will soon then get some action from the city council. Just accepting a 30mph and putting up with idiots who do not observe it will get you nowhere in the short or long term .

Why would the city council have anything to do with with what happens over the border in Kennington?
