We do not have any traffic calming measures

First published in News

I AM writing concerning your story about traffic speed in Kennington (September 2).

Could I point out that there is a 30mph limit in all of Kennington. What we do not have in Upper Road is any traffic calming measures, i.e. road humps or speed cushions.

Perhaps the inconsiderate motorists who speed in built-up areas would feel differently had they caused or been involved in an accident that caused injury or worse.

Colin Charlett

Chairman

Kennington Parish Council

Delighted as I am that the residents of Marston will now get their public consultation on a local parking scheme (April 15), I am appalled at the length of time it has taken the Oxfordshire County Council to move from initial promise to actual survey: nine months...

To the writer. Speak with your local police contact in Kennington and organise a local meeting of residents. You will soon then get some action from the city council. Just accepting a 30mph and putting up with idiots who do not observe it will get you nowhere in the short or long term .

Why would the city council have anything to do with with what happens over the border in Kennington?
