A FRIEND of Will Blencowe has denied providing him with fresh clothes and helping him leave Oxfordshire after he fatally stabbed Connor Tremble.
Bradley Jones, of New Road, Bledington, made the claims this afternoon while giving evidence in Oxford Crown Court.
The 21-year-old denies perverting the course of justice by aiding Connor's killer on February 13 this year.
Blencowe, of Oxford Road, Banbury, admits stabbing the 17-year-old but denies murder, claiming he was acting in self defence and was suffering from a mental condition at the time.
Afterwards he met up with Jones and travelled to their co-defendant Grant Clemens's house in Stockwells, Moreton-in-Marsh, at around 9pm.
From there Blencowe got a lift to Stratford-upon-Avon, where he was arrested the following day on suspicion of attempted murder.
Today Jones told a jury he had no knowledge of what his friend had done and thought his odd behaviour was because of an unsuccessful suicide attempt.
He said: "(Blencowe) was really quiet, when he tried to speak his words didn't come out properly."
Defence barrister Graham Logan said: "Did you provide Will Blencowe with clothes?"
Jones replied: "No I didn't."
Mr Logan asked: "Did he at any time tell you what his problem was?"
Jones said: "No."
The barrister said: "Did he tell you he had been in a serious incident in Oxford?"
The witness answered: "No."
Mr Logan said: "Did you have any idea that he had been involved in any criminal activity?"
Jones said: "No."
He also denied telling another friend Zak Perry that: "The only thing (Blencowe) regrets is not watching (Connor) bleed to death."
Clemens, 24, also denies perverting the course of justice.
The trial continues.
