MORE than 50 corset makers and fashion designers will squeeze into a special conference starting in Oxford tomorrow.

The second Oxford Conference of Corsetry is running for two days at Jesus College, with people from across the world coming to take part.

Organiser Julia Bremble, from Eynsham, said: “We have corset-makers and fashion designers with an interest in corsetry coming from Australia and America.

“There are 52 people coming and our tickets sold out so quickly. We ran out of room in March.”

Mrs Bremble, 45, said: “The first day we have workshops and presentations from experts and teachers, while Sunday will be a showcase day where designers can have their work worn by professional models and pictured by professional photographers.”

The guest of honour for this year’s conference is Autumn Adamme, the owner and founder of Dark Garden Corsetry in San Francisco, which is reportedly top burlesque performer Dita Von Teese’s favourite shop.

Mrs Bremble said: “She’s partially responsible for the fashion of wearing corsets on the outside of clothes.

“She’s a real trailblazer.”
