A special wreath commemorating the First World War will pass through Carterton next week.

The Royal British Legion’s Wreath of Respect motorcycle ride starts today and runs until next Saturday, beginning and ending at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

It will arrive in Carterton along with about 30 motorcylists on Friday. A service will be held at the war memorial garden in Monahan Way at 6.30pm.

The wreath, which is travelling a total of 1,250 miles around areas with military connections, will leave the town at 7am the next day. It has been designed with a horseshoe in the middle in tribute to the one million horses killed in the war.
