THE Bard is back in Oxford, as a popular production of Twelfth Night is being revived at the castle.
To celebrate the 450th birthday of William Shakespeare, the English Repertory Theatre has brought its 2008 play back to the city.
Assistant director Diana Vucane – who also plays the character Feste in the play – said: “The production is great, everyone’s enjoying it. We’re getting really great feedback from audiences.”
One of Shakespeare’s most famous comedies, Twelfth Night sees twins Viola and Sebastian causing romantic havoc after a shipwreck.
Ms Vucane, 30, from London, said: “It’s very much inspired by the place where we’re doing it, in the courtyard of the castle. We want it to be a fast-paced piece.
“We want to avoid the tedium you can get if you bow too much to the traditions.”
The production of Twelfth Night runs at the Oxford Castle Quarter until Friday, September 5.
Tickets cost £22.50 and can be bought at oxfordcastleunlocked.co.uk
