POLICE officers are currently investigating an attempted burglary at a shop in Banbury.

Burglars tried to break into the Co-op store in Mewburn Road at around midnight last night.

Thames Valley Police spokesman Francine Rodrigues said the burglary attempt was discovered by staff when they arrived to open the store this morning.

Police officers were then called to the scene at around 5.20am.
