A MOTHER whose six-week-old son died has raised hundreds of pounds to thank the doctors and nurses who tried to save him.

Tessa Jack held a fundraising event at St Luke’s Church in Canning Crescent, South Oxford, on Saturday, with dance performances, face painting, a bouncy castle, Henna tattoos, games and a raffle.

The 21-year-old raised about £400 for the John Radcliffe Hospital’s paediatric intensive care unit.

Miss Jack, who lives in Windmill Road, Headington, said: “They tried so hard to give us a peaceful goodbye and I am really grateful. I found it inspirational.

“It was a really good event and I think I am going to organise another one.”

Takai Omari Jack was a “perfectly healthy” baby when he was born on February 23, 2013, weighing 6lb 10.5oz.

But on April 8 that year, Miss Jack found her son wasn’t breathing and rushed him to hospital where he was diagnosed with two viruses and his organs started failing.

He was in hospital for 38 hours and died on April 10, 2013.
