Sir – If, as you reported last week, county council leader Ian Hudspeth really said that Hanborough station holds the key to unlocking West Oxfordshire’s traffic problems, who was he trying to kid?
As you pointed out, the car park there was extended last year with 191 extra spaces.
Last Wednesday, in the late morning, this extension was between two-thirds and three-quarters full.
Charlbury station also had its car park extended not long ago and that is also frequently full on weekdays.
If, say, 60 more drivers parked at Hanborough and took the train into Oxford, its car park would also be full.
Does Mr Hudspeth seriously think that taking 60 cars off the road would make a significant difference?
