MUSLIMS spreading the message of peace on wheels stopped in Oxford to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and Humanity First.
More than 25 cyclists came to the city on Friday as part of a charity bike ride from Glasgow to London. They made the 600-mile journey in a week, setting off from Scotland on Sunday, June 1, and arriving in London on Saturday.
The ride was arranged by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK and has raised more than £100,000 for the charities, as well as spreading good spirit.
Ataul Quddous Ahmed, who led the group, said: “The Ride of Peace stopped at 10 mosques across the country and supported the message of peace and harmony.
"A lot things said about Islam are negative and associate it with terrorism, but real Islam is about peace. It’s not something that should be thought of as dangerous.”
The 26-year-old, from West London, who runs a bike courior service, added: “So far I’ve raised £400, but I’m doing a lot of other bike rides and runs over the summer and I hope to raise £5,000 in total.”
