MEMBERS of the Dorset Gardens Trust celebrated 25 years of helping to conserve landscapes and promoting gardening in the county.

A party was held at Minterne Magna, which gave members the opportunity to revisit the site of the DGT’s first meeting back in 1989.

More than 100 people turned out for the occasion, including several original enthusiasts.

Henry Digby welcomed everyone to the venue before guests enjoyed a guided tour of the gardens where the famous rhododendrons were in full bloom.

The tour was followed by an informal address from DGT president Wilfred Weld and chairman Jim Bartos acknowledged the invaluable contribution of members of the last 25 years before presenting tokens of appreciation to Hugh Lindsay and Sarah Fitzgerald.

The next major event for the DGT is a celebratory Garden Day at Heringston House on Sunday, June 29, from 10am to 5pm that will raise money for the charity.
