A GIRL was sexually assaulted in a park in Long Hanborough yesterday evening.
Police spokeswoman Hannah Williams said the girl was approached by a man in the park off Roosevelt Road and attacked.
One of the girl's friends alerted people near by and a man was held until police arrived.
Miss Williams said officers were called just after 5pm and last night police were guarding the area.
A 23-year-old man was last night still being held by police on suspicion of sexual assault.
Det Insp Tom Brooks said: “We have arrested a person who is now in custody however I am appealing to anyone who has any information about the incident to please contact police via the 24-hour 101 number.
“A scene watch has been in place at the park and if any members of the public have any concerns they can approach an officer or call our non-emergency number 101.”
