SHE knitted her way through lengths of wool, spinning it round her forehead and Emma Mayoux-Andrews didn’t even use needles.

The 23 year-old artist learned the art of finger-knitting at Barclays Bank in Headington and helped some local residents have a go.

She said: “It was just amazing fun that the kids could join in with.

“In finger-knitting, you hook the wool around your fingers and then loop it around the next. It is more like crochet.”

Miss Mayoux-Andrews, who has just completed a Fine Art degree at Oxford Brookes University, helped out at the launch of the Artweeks festival in Headington where artists open up their studios to display their work.

She added: “It was brilliant.”

Miss Mayoux-Andrews, who engraves poetry on bicycle frames, will exhibit her work at the OVADA gallery in Osney Lane tomorrow.
