A DRUG dealer from Oxford, who was caught trying to flush his stash down the toilet, has been jailed for three years.

Khalid Miah, of Henry Road, admitted two counts of possessing the Class A drugs heroin and cocaine with intent to supply.

The 37-year-old was arrested in a police raid on his West Oxford address on February 20.

On Friday, passing sentence in Oxford Crown Court, Judge Gordon Risius said that when officers arrived at his home Miah locked himself in the bathroom.

He said police broke down the door and found the suspect with a black bin bag trying to flush his drugs down the toilet.

Judge Risius added that Miah became violent when they tried to arrest him and injured a police officer in the struggle.

Alexandra Scott, defending, said her client was resigned to receiving a prison sentence and was taking steps to address his drug use.

She said he had been pressured into dealing drugs after getting into debt with his supplier.

Judge Risius said: “I accept you were under some pressure to pay off your debts, but you willingly agreed to help your supplier.”

After the same raid in February a man was cautioned for possessing cocaine and a woman was released without charge.
