A SECURITY firm director has been told to pay more than £15,000 after his company’s accreditation was used to secure sought-after Government contracts.

Oxon Securities Home Counties UK Ltd, based in Oxford Business Park North, was accredited by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

But Oxford magistrates heard another firm used the company’s name to win government contracts in Scotland.

Director Hidayat Khan, 38, admitted four counts of making false statements to the authority when he was questioned about the matter.

On Wednesday, April 30, he was fined £900 on each count and ordered to pay £12,000 costs and a £120 victims’ surcharge.

The SIA is now reviewing his company’s accreditation under the Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS).

Head of the investigation Nathan Salmon said: “The SIA expects ACS companies to provide information about approaches by other companies attempting to circumvent procurement obligations, in order to protect the integrity of the scheme.

“Organisations seek to target businesses with the ACS accreditation as this standard is a hallmark of quality for security buyers, and opens wider contractual opportunities, especially in Scotland. Mr Khan did not inform the SIA his company was being used in this manner, and he was allowing his company name to be used as a front for an organisation that would have otherwise been unable to procure security contracts where approved contractor status is a requirement.”
