A BLUEPRINT to develop an award-winning park in Bicester is needed, it is claimed. Bicester town councillors were given a preview of the type of play equipment that could be installed in Garth Park, off Launton Road, but it could come with a £140,000 price tag.
Images of equipment included rope climbing frames, roundabouts and slides.
But councillors have asked for a full proposal to include the cost of replacing the existing, dated play equipment.
New toilet facilities and a cafe are also wanted at the site.
It comes months after residents complained that play equipment in Garth Park was tired and old-fashioned.
It prompted Bicester Town Council to review its 67 parks, which has concluded but has yet to be presented to councillors.
At a meeting to discuss plans, council operations manager Chris Johnson said councillors should opt for low maintenance equipment such as “high quality” plastic which does not fade, and comes with a 10 to 20-year guarantee.
The equipment would cater for toddler to 13-year-olds.
At present the council spends about £45,000 a year to maintain its parks.
