TODAY is the final day to see medieval knights and valliant steeds at Blenheim Palace’s twice-yearly jousting tournament.

Visitors have been flocking to the Woodstock stately home over the Bank Holiday weekend to see scores settled the old fashioned way.

Jousting display team the Knights of Royal England have spent the weekend performing traditional 13th century contests.

Falconry displays, archery and puppet shows also entertained visitors.

Children watched Alefreck the Brave, a dragon who wants to be a knight in shining armour, and a tiny dragon who has a mission to rescue a princess.

Blenheim Palace spokeswoman Melodie Manners said: “We were thrilled with the exciting jousting performances this weekend.

“It was lovely to see so many families getting involved with all the activities and enjoying watching the knights on horseback as well as the falconry.

“It is great to be able to host ‘living history’ events within our parkland.”

Another jousting weekend will be held at the palce from August 1 to 3.
