Talking of barminess, the forcing of a village cricket club to ban sixes from being scored at one end of the ground, because of a neighbour’s complaints, is a real googly.
Britwell Salome Cricket Club had been playing at the ground for about 25 years when the neighbour moved in – so it is a bit rich to then start moaning about the odd ball coming over the boundary.
It’s not unlike those people who move next to a train station and then complain about the noise.
This fundamentally alters the sport played there.
It’s just not cricket.
