PEOPLE who live in North Oxfordshire are being asked to help draw up new wards for Cherwell District Council

After a public consultation earlier this year, the Local Government Boundary Commission for England has announced that it is likely to recommend that the council should have 48 councillors in the future, two fewer than currently in place.

The commission is now asking Cherwell residents to help produce the new pattern of wards which these councillors will represent.

Max Caller, chairman of the commission, said: “The starting point of an electoral review is for the commission to take a view on the number of councillors who should represent the authority in future.

"We are now asking local people and organisations to help us draw up new wards for Cherwell.

"As we develop the recommendations, we will take into account local community identities as well as ensuring electoral equality for voters.

“We will carefully consider all evidence provided during this phase of the review whoever it is from and whether it applies to the whole of Cherwell or just a small part.”

People have until July 7 to submit their views.
