A music venue in Oxford will tomorrow celebrate its 40 years of hosting bands with a show by the first group to play there.
In 1974, blues-rockers Steamroller were the first band to play The Corn Dolly – now known as The Cellar – in the city centre’s Frewin Court. The band, who broke up in 1978, reformed five years ago after a chance encounter in a Marston pub.
Frontman Robert Wakeley, 69, from Kidlington, will join bandmates Roger Warner, 69, from Cutteslowe, and Steve Winstone, 63, from Wheatley.
Tickets cost £4 from wegottickets.com. The music starts at 8pm.
