A MARRIED man was caught performing an indecent act in his car while parked near a Headington nursery school.

A bus driver spotted Harold Gerrard, 66, sitting in his Skoda wearing only a buttoned shirt, Oxford Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday.

He was arrested at the scene and admitted indecent exposure yesterday following the incident in February.

Prosecutor Ann Sawyer-Brandish said the crime happened at 1.30pm on Thursday, February 27.

She said when the bus drove past Gerrard he stopped the act, but then continued. The lawyer also said witnesses said children could be heard playing close to Gerrard’s car.

But Charlotte Frizzell, defending Gerrard, said he had no interest in children and had not wanted to be seen.

She said: “He states he parked there because he can park free for two hours and it is not overlooked by any houses.

“He states he takes pleasure from seeing attractive women.”

The defence lawyer said Gerrard had been married for 33 years, but added: “He has not had any sexual contact with his wife for a very long time now. He states he has a very high sex drive.”

Magistrates also heard Gerrard had lost his rail manager’s job due to the crime.

His lawyer said he was taking steps to get treatment. Gerrard, of Barton Road, was released on conditional bail to be sentenced at the court on May 13.
