Contractors will today carry out three controlled blasts at the base of one of the Didcot A Power Station cooling towers.

Coleman and Company has begun demolition works at the site and will conduct the tests to see how many explosives will be needed to bring the towers down in the summer.

Npower spokeswoman Kelly Brown said it was unlikely nearby firms and residents would hear anything or notice any dust.
