FOUR Oxfordshire districts have been named in the top 50 most desirable rural areas to live in Britain.

The Vale of White Horse was ranked seventh in Halifax’s annual quality of life survey.

South Oxfordshire came 28th, West Oxfordshire 39th, and Cherwell 46th amongst the top countryside idylls announced by Halifax.

Uttlesford in Essex was named as the most desirable place to live in Britain.

The survey rates areas on statistics relating to health, personal wellbeing and life expectancy of residents, crime rates, weather, employment, school results and broadband access.
