BANBURY residents are going to have their streets cleared of rubbish, graffiti and chewing gum next week.

Thanks to Cherwell District Council’s spring clean, the Hardwick estate will be blitzed by the environmental services team.

Nigel Morris, lead member for clean and green, said: “With winter now out of the way, March is the time of year when many embark on a spring clean.

“Instead of cleaning out an attic, we will be clearing up the streets of Hardwick.

“In addition to blitzing the estate we want to help residents as they clear out the clutter generated from their own spring cleans.”

For one week only, residents will be able to apply for up to three bulky waste items, such as sofas, fridges and washing machines, to be collected for free.

There will also be a one-off textile recycling service, when unwanted materials such as clothes and bedding can be left on top of bins on collection day for crews to pick up.

The council will also be selling blue and brown bins, giving out food caddies and answering residents’ questions about rubbish and recycling.

The spring clean will take place from Monday to Friday next week.
