A 52-year-old Oxfordshire man died after he was struck by a train yesterday.
The man was hit on a rural section of railway, between Swindon and Stroud, shortly before 5.30pm.
His death is not being treated as suspicious.
A coroner will open an inquest into the death later this week.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Paramedics from South Western Ambulance Service also attended and the body of a man was located. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The man has yet to be formally identified but is believed to have been a 52-year-old man from Oxfordshire. His family has been informed."
