COMMENT: Academy can make a huge difference

First published in News

OXFORD is a city steeped in history. It is also a city at the heart of the modern world.

One unheralded example of this is the Major Projects Leadership Academy at the Said Business School.

The course trains up civil servants to run £350bn worth of Government projects.

Such schemes often get flak for being behind-time and over budget.

Hopefully, the academy will make a striking difference to the way these huge schemes are run.

'Hopefully' this will make more difference that all the other course senior civil servant have always been sent on, all the top ranking private sector people that have been brought into help improve the civil service since Thatcher's time, all the audit and checks and project management systems that have been used across the civil service for big porjects for years and years and years.
