A 29-YEAR-OLD man from Cowley is still being held by counter-terrorism police in Manchester following his arrest in Oxford on Tuesday morning.

The suspect was arrested - along with two men and a woman in Manchester- on suspicion of supporting fighting in Syria.

Meanwhile, Jamsheed Javeed, 29, of Cringle Road in the Levenshulme area of Manchester, is today due before Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with the intention of assisting others to commit acts of terrorism and engaging in conduct in preparation for giving effect to his intention, Greater Manchester Police said.

An 18-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman from Manchester also remain in police custody for questioning.
