COMMENT: City FC owner must make team priority

First published in News

Thomas Guerriero, the owner of Oxford City FC, is a man who has lots of ideas. A university in Florida and a franchise in the American soccer league are just two of the latest.

Now he says he wants to establish a campus in Oxford to tie in with his American dream.

The idea is interesting, but there is little detail. For now, many fans will hope that he concentrates on what is happening on the pitch and battle the threat of the drop.

My understanding is that Mr Gueurriero is not the owner of Oxford City FC but has a 49% stake.....perhaps the Oxford Mail could establish if this is correct and if so stop referring to him as the owner. On an Oxford City unofficial fans forum there appears to be many concerns as to his involvement in the club coupled with queries on his playing days and business claims.Maybe the Oxford Mail could look further into his background

Quite right. Mr G is NOT the owner. He is a minority shareholder. I don't know why the Mail keeps saying that he owns the club when he doesn't. Perhaps they might more usefully ask questions like: What did he paid for his share of the club? How much does he receive from the club in "officer compensation"?
