THE Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Oxford West and Abingdon has supported a motion to end indefinite detention at Campsfield House, near Kidlington.

Layla Moran, pictured, addressed her party’s spring conference in York on Saturday, saying that detaining immigrants with no definite release date is inhumane. Ms Moran said: “Ending indefinite detention for immigration purposes is a bold and necessary move.

“In doing so we bring this country into line with the majority of other Western democracies.”

The immigration detention centre has been at the centre of controversy since it opened 20 years ago.
