Woman tells jury she was raped in alleyway

Oxford Mail: Oxford Crown Court Oxford Crown Court

A WOMAN has told a jury she was raped in an Oxford alleyway during a night out.

Jordan Gibbs, of Saxon Way, Headington, denies committing two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault on September 30, 2012.

The 26-year-old is accused of carrying out the offences at around 3.30am in George Street Mews, Oxford city centre.

David Povall, prosecuting, said Gibbs was walking with the complainant when he began to kiss her. He said the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told him to stop but he went on to sexually assault and rape her.

He said: “He was pushing her against the wall and kissing her and she was refusing, saying no, she walked away.

“She stumbled and fell and he helped her up.”

Mr Povall said that because she was wearing high heels and the ground was cobbled, it was hard for the alleged victim to keep her balance.

He said: “It was difficult for her to struggle. She was attempting to stop him but she was effectively helpless, being held down, she was saying no.”

Giving evidence yesterday the complainant said she told Gibbs to stop when he started kissing her.

She said: “I was upset and scared.”

The woman then described Gibbs raping and sexually assaulting her.

The trial continues.
