THERE are major delays this evening on trains in the county because of a signalling problem at Banbury.

No trains are able to run through Banbury at the moment.

The disruption is affecting Chiltern Railways trains between Bicester, Banbury, Leamington and Birmingham, and CrossCountry services between Oxford, Banbury, Leamington and Birmingham.

Chiltern trains from London Marylebone are terminating at Bicester North and trains from Birmingham are being stopped at Leamington Spa. CrossCountry serviuces are not running north of Oxford and south of Leamington.

First Great Western stopping trains between Oxford and Banbury are also suspended.

Chiltern Railways has tweeted to say the line is blocked due to a power issue affecting 1,000 properties.

There is limited replacement road transport in operation between Oxford and Banbury.

  • In addition, Chiltern services between Oxford, Islip and Bicester Town have been cancelled this evening, due to a broken-down train.
