‘Young boxer used me for sex’ girl, 14, tells Oxford court

A 20-YEAR-OLD boxer used Facebook to contact underage girls for sex, Oxford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Clinton Townsend, who was a successful member of the Oxford Boxing Academy, is on trial accused of having sex with young teenage girls and repeatedly breaching a court order banning him from contacting girls under the age of 18.
Prosecutor Michael Roques, opening the case, told the jury Townsend used a Facebook page called “Clint the Boy” to send messages to young girls in his area.
The lawyer told the court: “Clinton Townsend, the prosecution say, is a young man who constantly, very frequently contacts young girls over Facebook. By young girls I mean girls between 12 and 16 years of age.”
The jury was told Townsend, of Field Assarts near Leafield, West Oxfordshire, was before the same court in January 2013 after admitting similar crimes.
It was then he was given a sexual offences prevention order barring him from having any unsupervised contact with girls under 18 or using a computer without police permission.
Townsend now denies breaching that order six times by contacting five different girls last year.
He also denies five counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and two of common assault.
A 17-year-old girl told the court via video link that Townsend had contacted her on Facebook in 2011 when she was 14. She said he arranged to pick her up at the bottom of her street before driving her out in to a field near Frilford and having sex with her in the back seat of the car.
But she said the Facebook messages stopped after that, adding: “He used me and I didn’t want anything to do with him.”
Townsend has admitted three breaches of the court order and perverting the course of justice after he asked one girl to withdraw her witness statement. The trial is expected to last up to 10 days.
