AN OXFORD blogger is stepping out from behind her computer screen to cycle 60 miles to raise money for Sport Relief.

Today Katie Rhymes is leading a group of four cyclists to Chipping Sodbury in South Gloucestershire.

The ride is part of a nationwide relay of online writers who are carrying a baton from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Called Team Honk, over 150 bloggers will be running, skating, riding and biking over 3,000 miles to raise money for Sport Relief.

Ms Rhymes, from Kidlington, said: “In 2013, I watched fellow bloggers climb Snowdon for Red Nose Day. I wished I was there meeting new people, raising money for Comic Relief and completing a physical challenge.

“When I heard about Team Honk, I signed up.

“I’m a blogger, and I don’t really get to mingle with bloggers so I thought it would be a good way to meet people.”

Ms Rhymes, 33, has managed to persuade non-blogging friends Kelly White, Kath Pullen and Frankie Howard to join in along with runner Robert Rudman who will run 10km from Oxford to Eynsham.

Ms Howard said: “I’ve not done much preparation, but I’m hoping that I’m fit enough and that determination will get me through.

“It’s 30 miles each day and the most any of us have managed so far is 20 so it’s going to be hard!”

The team are hoping for a grand send-off from the Radcliffe Camera this morning.

They have set themselves a target of raising £500 for Sport Relief, and are close to succeeding, having raised £425 already.
