Our new freelancer, Aimee Kirkham, did a fine job capturing the 1980s’ flavour and bad hair, down at Didcot Girls’ School's musical. You can virtually hear the tunes Footloose and Hey Mickey blasting out from her images, with Mark Foy in the mullet wig, belting out the classics

Getting a dramatic picture of seven people holding fairy cakes is not an easy task. Andrew Walmsley once again chooses an interesting viewpoint, which combined with his off kilter composition achieved an image with real impact of these Oxford Imps with their anniversary cakes.

Last Friday I was presented with a tartan scarf and requested by my children to address our vegetarian haggis. Despite fortifying myself with a large Scotch in order to get into full character, I fear my Scots/Welsh accent and delivery – as I read from the computer screen – was...well...poor. Not so the performance of the Selkirk Grace by (piper star from Bond films) Steve Duffy, whom I photographed at Langford View Care Home in Bicester, earlier in the day. I feel I managed to capture some of the drama of this superior performance, though I left slightly annoyed with myself for missing the split second when a resident checked his kilt to see if he was a true Scotsman...

An imaginative picture from a difficult shoot Pupils at King Alfred’s have been trained to lead athletics competitions. I think Andrew Walmsley’s shot of Tommy Rees captures some nice action here as he shoots superwide from a great vantage point.

Great picture here of Oxford student Francis Thomas with hopes on being voted UK naked sledder for the world championships this year. Great lighting and strong composition from Ed Nix who proves, once again, this genre is definitely his strength
