A POLICE officer accused of stealing crash victims’ personal details has been found guilty in court this afternoon of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office.

Pc Sugra Hanif, 26, from Banbury was convicted of the charge at Winchester Crown Court.

Co-accused, 27-year-old Raza Khan from Birmingham, was convicted of the same charge.

Verdicts on charges they both deny of obtaining personal data from the Thames Valley Police control and command system have yet to be reached, as has a further charge Hanif denies of disclosing personal data.

Winchester Crown Court heard she accessed Thames Valley Police computers to get information on people involved in car accidents and pressure them into making personal injury claims.

The court heard that at the time she was having an affair with her co-accused, 27-year-old Raza Khan, who ran a repair garage.

She was accused of passing the information to Khan and the pair and his wife Paramjeet Kaur, 26, allegedly pocketed £600 a time for referring them to legal firms.

The trial heard allegations from Hanif that Khan used sex tapes to pressure her into stealing police details - charges he denies.

Kaur, 26, also from Birmingham, denies one count of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office. A verdict has yet to be reached in her case.
