BIG-hearted youngsters at Sharples High School have raised £1,000 to help the people of the Philippines after the devastating typhoon in November.
The pupils organised various events including a festive winter market and non-uniform day and sent e-Christmas cards and donated the money they would have spent buying traditional cards.
Deputy head boy Azeem Kapasi said: “On seeing the devastating effect of Typhoon Haiyan and what it did to the people and their families, especially seeing their children suffer — many the same age as myself — it compelled me to do what little I could.”
The money will provide shelter, water and food for millions of people.
