THIS image shows what Bicester Town Station will look like once work to improve the Oxford line is complete.

Chiltern Railways unveiled images for the first time ahead of major work starting on its £130m Evergreen 3 project.

The Oxford Bicester line will close next month and re-open next summer. The Oxford London link opens in spring 2016.

The Evergreen 3 project is creating the new Oxford to London Marylebone link — with the first new rail link between London and a major city in 100 years.

As part of the project both Bicester town and Islip stations will be re-built.

Bicester’s new station will have level access, two new platforms, a rebuilt car park, cycle parking and bus stops and improved access roads.

Chiltern’s managing director Rob Brighouse said: “Our new station at Bicester Town is part of our innovative project to build a new rail line between Oxford and London Marylebone.

“Our investment provides the growing town of Bicester with two stations providing trains to London, bringing more opportunities to travel and new transport connections for people in Oxfordshire.”
