THIS 140-million-year-old ammonite fossil is among exhibits on show at Banbury Museum.
Other items in the Natural Histories exhibition include a Megalosaurus jawbone and specimens collected by Charles Darwin.
The Castle Quay shopping centre museum is using items from Oxford University Museums and Collections. Events and exhibitions manager Dale Johnson said: “It is exciting showing such wonderful specimens in Banbury.
“It isn’t every day that people get the chance to see the world’s first scientifically described dinosaur bone alongside creatures collected by Charles Darwin on his famous ‘Beagle’ voyage and the oldest object they are ever likely to see! Visitors are enjoying getting to see these internationally important objects and being allowed to get ‘hands on’ with a mammoth bone and a giant ammonite.”
The exhibition runs at the free museum to February 22.
