A teenager has won the opportunity to study at a university in America.
Henrik Cox, left, is one of 36 people to be selected from more than 60,000 across the world to be awarded a Robertson Scholarship.
Henrik, 18, a sixth former at Abingdon School, in Park Road, Abingdon, will be able to study at Duke University and the University of North Carolina next year.
Henrik, who lives in Henley, said: “I am surprised and can’t quite believe it. It’s an amazing opportunity. The application process was tough, especially the interview, but it’s brilliant to have got through.”
The scholarship will cover all college costs as well as funding for three summers of travel, research and internships.
Henrik added: “I wanted to study in the US because it offers a broad curriculum where I can continue with design and economics as well as my main interest, engineering. In the UK I would have had to specialise more in engineering.”
