An inquest was opened at Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court yesterday into the death of a man found dead in a chair in his canal boat.
Ian “Spike” Mason, 62, was found dead alongside his dog in his narrowboat Samara on the Oxford Canal in Banbury last Thursday. A neighbour raised the alarm.
The inquest was adjourned but Oxfordshire Coroner Darren Salter told the court police believe Mr Mason and his dog died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
