SOCCER sessions for disabled people are being launched in Wallingford this month.

The regular afternoon kick-abouts organised by Wallingford Town Football Club will start on Fridays from January 24 between 3pm and 4pm.

Anyone over 16 who is disabled can take part at Wallingford Sports Park in Hithercroft Road. The y cost £1.50 per session.

Wallingford Town FC chairman Richard Prunier said: “As the club moves forward in leaps and bounds we see Disability Football sessions as an integral part of our future development.”

The new sessions are being introduced following the success of a Disability Football Fun Day held in Wallingford last September.

South Oxfordshire District Council's cabinet member for leisure, Bill Service, said: “It’s very important to ensure that all members of our community have the opportunity to participate in sport in South Oxfordshire, whether that’s through sessions designed specifically for people with disabilities or making sure that our facilities are accessible for all.”
